Tivat

Having undergone a major makeover as a result of the multimillion-dollar redevelopment of its historic naval base into a world-class marina,
Tivat has in recent years become one of the foremost lifestyle destinations on the Adriatic coast.

One of Tivat’s key advantages is its strategic location, just 5km from the international airport, 15 minutes by car from Kotor, 30 minutes from Budva and 15 minutes from Lustica Peninsula’s superb sandy beaches.

About Tivat

The town has a reputation as being one of the sunniest spots in the Bay of Tivat and features a long promenade which takes you through the spectacular Porto Montenegro Marina, with its gleaming super yachts, all the way to the ferry in Lepetane – a great place for a scenic stroll. Tivat is also known for its glitzy shopping, international fine dining restaurants and swanky bars. Thanks in part to the large number of foreigners either temporarily or permanently in Tivat, the town has a lively nightlife scene all year around.

Things to do in Tivat

There are no beaches in the center of Tivat, but swimming is possible from concrete pontoons in the town center, along the waterfront. Proper beaches can be found in close proximity, along the coast towards Donja Lastva or around the bay towards Luštica Peninsula. The neighbouring Seljanovo feautures beaches and cafes all along the stretch from Porto Montenegro. 10 minutes out of town in Solila Bay, you will find the trendy Movida beach with its small marina, restaurant, and open-air party venue with live bands, DJ’s and dancefloors. Plavi Horizonti with its spacious, sandy, shallow bay is the ideal place to go with small kids, while the Almara Beach Club in Oblatno with its loungers, day beds, snacks, cocktails and live DJ’s is the place to be seen, night and day.

Tivat offers a host of sports and leisure activities for all age groups, including stand up paddling, waterskiing and wakeboarding, kayaking, canyoning, golf, archery and bowling. The Vrmac Ridge Mountain Bike Tour includes transfer to Fort Vrmac, followed by a ride to the summit and descent through the pretty villages overlooking the bay, finishing in Porto Montenegro. For nature lovers, the town has its own park that is home to numerous exotic species, while the nearby Solila nature reserve provides scenic walking paths and several lookouts with views of the reserve and the bay.
